The site Arabic Learning Resources features resources to help you learn both standard Arabic and the Egyptian dialect. The vocabulary lists include standard Arabic, the Egyptian (Cairene) dialect, and transliterations. You'll also find pages devoted to colloquial idiomatic expressions, proverbs, and sayings. Nuestras Historias

This was a project created by using the information provided by Mike McViegh and Jana Moyer on their respective websites. Both sites are noted at the beginning of the project page. The final result was a presentation that included a Powerpoint and a written report describing each individual's story. Students were encouraged to share only what they felt comfortable sharing with the class. Being a class of Spanish speaking students from various backgrounds, stories were diverse and in some cases very moving. The project itself took 7 weeks as several grammar activities were included along the way. ... read more

International Corpus of Arabic

"The International Corpus of Arabic (ICA) is an ambitious attempt to build a representative corpus of the Arabic language as it is used all over the Arab world, with the aim of supporting research on such language. The ICA is planned to contain 100 million words. Once finished, the analyzed version will be the first analyzed Arabic corpus available as a linguistic resource for researchers.
