Jisho

Denshi Jisho is an easy-to-use and powerful online Japanese dictionary. It lets you find words, kanji and example sentences by searching in many ways. The dictionaries are also interlinked so that you can check what the kanji in a word mean individually or what context a word can be used in. You can also look up kanji by the parts they contain. The data is publicly available and comes from the excellent WWWJDIC project. (I use this site all the time to find meanings I don't understand, or whenever I'm looking for the right word to use in an essay or homework assignment. Kotoba App

This application is a multilingual Japanese dictionary for iPhone and iPod touch devices. The dictionary files are embedded in the application so that the dictionary service is available at all times with no additional cost. Kotoba! was created using the amazing JMdict files from the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group based on the work of Jim Breen on the EDICT project. Use the Japanese keyboard to look-up words in kana/kanji. You may use the excellent Traditional Chinese character recognition keyboard for on-screen drawing of Kanjis.
